CHERNOBYL ACTION DAY
On the occasion of the Chernobyl disaster anniversary, the French pressure group « Sortir du nucléaire » highly encourage you to take part in the international action day.
Reactor No 4 at Chernobyl exploded on April 26th 1986, 22 years ago. That day, the biggest technological and industrial disaster the world has ever known began. Chernobyl keeps claiming victims nowadays : its irreversible and catastrophic impact on health (cancers, multiple organ failures, mutations...) will affect generations to come.
Here are some suggestions/ideas for actions :
Sell so-called vegetables from Chernobyl area at the market place with a fact sheet…
On a public place, ask people for filling a form to engage themselves as liquidators for the next major accident…
After one year of a lasting presence in front of the WHO (World Health Organisation) to denounce its links with IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) on radioactivity questions related to health, a major action will take place in Geneva on the 26th of April : hundreds of persons will stand during hours in circle around the WHO building with radioactive white masks (see in attachment) to remember the forgotten victims of the Chernobyl disaster. Various groups already plan to do the same (even with few persons + cards + flowers?) in their own towns. You can copy the mask an join them in your own way where you are !
